Your days are busy and hectic but the moment you enter your home everything in your life makes sense, right? No? Ok, maybe you have a bit of work to do.
The home is the place we most frequently lead our day-to-day lives. It’s where we operate our businesses, eat, sleep, do chores, practice yoga, socialize, and chill. Our space has a profound mental effect on us as humans. Whether you know it or not, your home plays a big role in shaping how you think, feel and operate in the world. But in order for a building to maintain its effect on our mind and body for the better, it needs to be cared for as well.
We don’t need to live in a perfect space—we just need one that feels good and makes us happy. What if our home could remind us to take breaks, keep an eye on our health, or find motivation to tackle a project?
Read on for some tips to get started on your journey to home care as self care.

01 Declutter
If your home feels cluttered and disorganized, it’s time to clear out.
Don’t think about the state of your home as something you have to get through—think about it as an opportunity to improve your life! Pump up the tunes and get at it! Make space for things you cherish, trust your gut and banish anything you don’t absolutely love. A quick search will offer many techniques to get started.

02 Reward
Give yourself a deadline to get organized with an incentive.
Set a timer…are there 10 things you can do in 10 minutes? Break the jobs into manageable chunks and finish one space before moving on to the next. Reward and Repeat! Ideas to consider gifting yourself: a massage, cocktails out with friends, buttery popcorn and an indulgent flick. Lift yourself up and you will plant the seed to continue!

03 Observe
How do you live in your home?
Where is there maximum daylight? Make this your morning yoga corner.
Are there spots that could use a shift in energy? Add plants and a diffuser, open the windows and let in some morning air.
Is there unused space? Perfect spot to display a beloved collection or clear it out as hobby zone.
Could the furniture placement and flow be improved? Create a floorplan and play around. (I can help with that!)
Do you need more storage? Maybe you already have some furniture that could be better used.
Could spaces be converted from day to evening? Work from the living room by day and switch it up in the evening with some candles and a stack of magazines.
Does your home feel cold and lifeless?
Maybe it’s time for a change of scenery! Why not switch out some decorations or rearrange furniture so that you can create a space that feels more like you?
Here’s how you can work with me to add some life to your home.

04 Curate
Curate the items you love: family heirlooms, quirky vintage items, and mix them in with modern pieces.
Create a detailed list of items you are missing. Be sure to include measurements and always carry a tape measure with you! Pop into vintage and home stores you come across. Slowly build a space that function for you and feels like you.

Chances are, your home has seen better days.
But it doesn’t need to stay that way. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you can revitalize your living space and make it more appealing, convenient, and comfortable on a day-to-day basis. A well-cared-for home is a beautiful expression of self-worth and self-love. So give your home and, in turn yourself, the love it deserves! Do what you can to make it your own. Respect the potential it has to reflect who you are and create a space that feels good and special to you, a home that tells your story!
